UNDIL has a Center for Research and Advanced Training (CIFA), established under Rector’s Order No. 03/Reitor-UNDIL/IX/2023, and a Center for Research and Community Services (Article 30 of the Organic Statute of UNDIL).

The Center for Research and Advanced Training (CIFA) of UNDIL is a unit dedicated to scientific research and advanced training, with autonomy in scientific, pedagogical, and administrative management.

At the national level, CIFA operates in harmony with the general strategy of the National Institute of Science and Technology (INCT) of Timor-Leste.

At the international level, CIFA implements the research policies of the University of Dili (UNDIL), taking into account that the University has signed the San Francisco Declaration on Research Assessment (DORA), the Budapest Open Access Initiative, and is also a signatory and member of the Coalition for Advancing Research Assessment (CoARA).

Scientific research and advanced training programs (master’s, doctoral, and post-doctoral programs) promoted by CIFA are designed, organized, and implemented preferably with the involvement of academics and researchers from the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP), without prejudice to other international collaborations.

The Center for Research and Advanced Training (CIFA) is the body specifically responsible for editing the Scientific Journal of UNDIL – University of Dili.

The Pro-Rector for Research, Postgraduate Studies and Cooperation with the CPLP, Professor Doctor Manuel Azancot de Menezes, supervises and coordinates CIFA.

Professor Doctor Cláudia Vaz is UNDIL’s Focal Point in the Coalition for Advancing Research Assessment (CoARA).

The rules governing the structure, organization, and functioning of CIFA are defined in its own Regulations.

UNDIL also has a Center for Research and Community Services, which operates in accordance with paragraph 3 of Article 30 of the Organic Statute of UNDIL.

The Center for Research and Community Services, headed by a Director, comprises two interconnected structures: the Research Center and the Community Services (paragraph 3 of Article 30).

The Research Center is organized into Research Groups proposed by the Deans of the Faculties and approved by the Pro-Rector for Postgraduate Studies, Research, and Cooperation with the CPLP (paragraph 4 of Article 30).

The Community Services operate through Community Intervention Projects and in articulation with each Faculty (paragraph 5 of Article 30).

The Director of the Center for Research and Community Services is Doctor Dionízio G. M. Fraga, PhD, a lecturer at the Faculty of Economics of UNDIL.
